The tools are not separate calculators — geometry captured in the field moves through all of them without being retyped.

Capture the boundary

Walk the parcel with GPS in Area & perimeter. Each point is averaged from several readings, so one bad fix never reaches the result.

Check what you captured

You immediately get area in m², dunums and hectares, the perimeter, and the length and bearing of every edge. If edges cross, the sketch shows it before you leave the site.

Split it

Parcel subdivision takes that same geometry. Enter a target area or a part count, pick the reference edge — the cut runs parallel to it, or perpendicular when you split by frontage.

Stake the new boundaries

New points go straight to stakeout. The arrow holds the bearing, the figure under it is remaining distance — you walk until it reaches zero.

Hand over the DXF

Parts come out sorted onto layers, with division lines and areas. It opens in AutoCAD with nothing left to tidy up.

How do I transform coordinates from WGS84 to Gauss-Kruger?

Open the Coordinate transformation tool in GeoKantar, enter WGS84 latitude/longitude and pick a Gauss-Kruger output zone (6 or 7 for Bosnia and Herzegovina). The transformation runs through proj4 using a 7-parameter Helmert shift from the Bessel ellipsoid to WGS84.

Does the app work without internet?

Yes. GeoKantar is built for fieldwork and runs fully offline. All nine tools compute locally on the device, including transformations, areas, parcel subdivision and DXF export.

Which coordinate systems are supported?

WGS84 and Gauss-Kruger zones 5, 6 and 7 (Bessel / MGI ellipsoid), covering Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia and Croatia. For an arbitrary local system, the Localization tool fits your measurements to known control points with a Helmert transformation.

How does parcel subdivision work?

The Parcel subdivision tool imports a parcel from DXF, CSV, GeoJSON, KML or SHP, then splits it one of five ways: by number of equal-area parts, by a target area, by frontage, by road access, or along a line you draw. Parts export to DXF, CSV, GeoJSON or KML.

What does stakeout do?

The Survey and stakeout tool captures points by GPS with multi-reading averaging, then navigates you to a target point: an arrow shows the bearing and the figure below it shows remaining distance. Captured points export to CSV or DXF.

What is the grid-to-ground factor for?

A grid distance lies in the projection plane; a ground distance is the real distance on site. The Localization tool computes the grid factor, elevation factor and combined factor (CSF) for your location and height, and converts distances both ways.

What is DXF export used for?

DXF is the standard exchange format for technical drawings used by software such as AutoCAD. GeoKantar produces DXF with 13+ layers, block definitions and a prepared A3 sheet, ready to open in CAD software.

Which devices can run GeoKantar?

The app is on the App Store for iPhone and iPad (iOS 16.4 and later) and on Google Play for Android phones and tablets.
